Welcome to the work life harmony coach blog
I write this for you, I write this for me, I write this to celebrate every experience in my life that’s brought me to where I am today and to acknowledge that each twist and turn along the way whether happy, sad, easy or downright hard has been for a reason and, has helped shape who I am right here and right now.
It’s been said that what’s personal is universal and I write this blog in hopes that you as a busy leader may see yourself in me and in your quest to create work life harmony, you’ll pause for a moment.
And, with a sense of knowing, perhaps a smile, a tear, a cringe or a big old belly laugh, you’ll get that aha feeling where you just know that each life experience represents a single piece of a puzzle, your life’s puzzle and that every now and then, it’s not only important, it’s helpful and necessary to take a step back for a 360 view so you can see how all the pieces of your own unique life puzzle fit together.
Creating harmony in your life
Creating harmony in your life is about knowing when to pause and take a breath and it’s about gaining perspective and clarity to bring about a soul fulfilling, rewarding life which will allow you to live into your highest commitments and contribute to your community in meaningful ways.
So you might be wondering, why work life harmony and not work life balance?
Well, I believe that it’s more realistic to create work-life harmony because certain areas of our lives demand more from us than others at any given time – demands on our attention, energy, focus and time. Because of this, I think it’s unrealistic to be striving for balance. Harmony, on the other hand, would mean that we are in flow and we have perspective on how the moving parts of our lives work together which allows us to navigate the twists and turns and the ebbs and flows that life is guaranteed to bring.
After I turned 40, time seemed to go by with the blink of an eye and having just turned 60, I’m filled with an ever-increasing sense of gratitude and wonder for all that has happened, all that I’ve created over my lifetime, including a whole lotta things I would’ve been quite happy never to have experienced. Plain and simple, I’m at that point in my life where it’s time to embrace it all, every sweet ‘n sour moment!
You see, I get that life is fluid and nothing ever stays the same. I get that I am all that I’ve lived through and in that, I am absolutely enough. I get that when I unpack and examine all the things that have shaped my life, the stories I’ve told myself (which haven’t necessarily all been of benefit to me or others), it seems to lighten my load and I can get on with creating and fitting together those next puzzle pieces…on my terms.
Do you lose your way?
But sometimes I forget and I lose my way and I know it’s about having the knowledge, tools and strategies to get myself back on track. It’s about knowing how to manage and redirect my thoughts with ease and confidence and to keep moving forward one step at a time…no matter what.
With age comes an increasing sense of wisdom and a deep understanding of just how precious life is and that’s an extraordinary truth to embrace. Not only do I know this in my heart, I know so from the many people I’ve had this conversation with. So many people I’ve spoken with are reflecting back on their lives while looking forward as to what life holds in their next exciting chapter – figuring out the twists and turns that connect dreams with reality, passions with purpose – whether entering their 40s, 50s, 60s or beyond.
In this blog, I’m going to share with you my stories, my life lessons, my vulnerabilities and my wisdom and in putting myself out there, my hope is that you will see yourself in me and you will be inspired to create the life you dream of. Also, you will know that in your willingness to be brave and take a stand for yourself you will inspire and encourage another person to do the same.
